Mimie, born Mélanie Ngoga on 11 January 1991 in Douala, Cameroon, is a celebrated Cameroonian singer, songwriter, actress, and entrepreneur. She discovered her passion for music at an early age, performing in school events and local talent showcases before pursuing higher education. She later earned a Master’s degree in Corporate Communication and Marketing from the University of Douala, combining her artistic ambitions with a strong academic foundation. Her bilingual ability to perform in both French and English has enabled her to connect with audiences across Cameroon and beyond.
Mimie officially launched her professional music career in 2014 with the release of her debut single, “Warriors.” She first gained national recognition through songs such as “Dance Fi U” and “Dona,” which showcased her unique blend of Afropop, dancehall, Afro-soul, and urban music. In 2017, her career reached another milestone when she signed with Empire Company, the record label founded by renowned Cameroonian artist Pit Baccardi. Since then, she has built an impressive catalogue of hit singles and collaborations with leading African artists including Locko, Ko-C, Magasco, Tenor, and Shan’L.
Beyond music, Mimie has established herself as an actress and entrepreneur. She has appeared in several Cameroonian film productions while also leading her own label, Mimie Nation Records. Her influence extends into brand partnerships, including serving as a brand ambassador for Ballantine’s, and participating in international leadership initiatives focused on music, culture, and civic engagement. These accomplishments have positioned her as one of the most influential female entertainers in Cameroon, admired for both her artistic versatility and business acumen.
In recent years, Mimie has expanded her impact through socially conscious projects such as the Shevolution Tour, an initiative that combines live music with advocacy for women’s empowerment and the fight against gender-based violence. Through her performances, public engagements, and philanthropic efforts, she continues to inspire young people—especially women—to pursue their dreams with confidence and resilience. With a career defined by creativity, authenticity, and social responsibility, Mimie remains one of the leading voices shaping the future of Cameroon’s contemporary music industry.
