Salatiel

Salatiel, born Salatiel Livenja Bessong on 26 December 1987 in Bamenda, Cameroon, is an award-winning Cameroonian singer, songwriter, record producer, and entrepreneur. Known as “The High Man General,” he is one of the most influential figures in contemporary Cameroonian music. Growing up in a musical family, Salatiel developed his passion for singing and composition at an early age through church performances. He later studied chemistry at the University of Yaoundé I before fully dedicating himself to music, where he built a reputation as a talented vocalist, instrumentalist, and producer.

Salatiel began his professional career as a member of the gospel group Da Thrill before founding the record label and music collective Alpha Better Records in 2013. The label became one of Cameroon’s most successful independent music platforms, producing and promoting several major artists, including Mr Leo. As a producer and songwriter, Salatiel has been behind many successful Cameroonian songs while also developing his own catalog of hits such as “Fap Kolo,” “Weekend,” “C’est La Vie,” and “Anita.” His sound combines Afropop, Afrobeat, R&B, and traditional Cameroonian influences.

Salatiel gained international recognition through major collaborations, including his appearance alongside Beyoncé and Shatta Wale on the global soundtrack album The Lion King: The Gift with the song “Water.” He has also collaborated with several leading African artists, including Stanley Enow, Daphne, Mr Leo, and Locko. His exceptional songwriting, vocal ability, and production skills have earned him multiple awards and nominations, establishing him as one of the most respected creative forces in Central Africa.
